Heriloom Redesign Stories
Lucy's Jade Drop Earrings
-
Original Carving
This jade pendant was carved with a unique figure which she wanted to keep to preserve the original history of the piece.
-
Custom Cut Cabochons
After selecting the sections of the carving that matched most closely in scale and thickness, the lapidary carved them to match in size and shape.
-
Wax Model
We wanted to do something classic and every day wearable for the drops, but still unique and stand out in their own way.
-
Final Design
The final result is simply stunning. The yellow gold brings out the green hues of the jade and the earrings have a light, airy feel.
Mary Beth's Bracelet
-
Heirloom Baby Bracelets and Garnet Ring
Mary Beth had several baby bracelets and an antique ring that she wanted to mix together to create a new braelet for her daughter.
-
Preserving History
We decided that the decorative bezel on the ring would make a beautiful clasp for the finished bracelet, and wanted to design additional elements to highlight the shape.
-
Technical View of Linked Bracelets
I proposed extender links designed to mirror the shape of the original ring's halo which would serve to lengthen the entire bracelet as well as highlight the soon-to-be clasp.
-
Custom Links
Not only did we create custom extender links for the baby bracelets, we also designed a toggle with small detailing to match the flowers on the original ring's halo.
A Note from Mary Beth
Some years back I saw some interesting bracelets in a magazine, they had put different bracelets together. I got to thinking about the jewelry I had, including my daughter's baby and little girl gold bracelets.
Terran and I spoke, I sent her my jewelry bag of odds and ends. I did not exactly know what I was thinking of but she is so talented, she started to put it together, would send me pics, and I would give her feedback. It turned out to be so lovely.
My daughter was graduating from college and this was her graduation gift. So beautiful, unusual, and sentimental. It included her two bracelets from her childhood, a ring of her grandmother’s was used as the clasp and toggle inspiration, and then Terran, with her talent, supplemented it to bring the whole thing together. She loves it!
Matt & Jen's Wedding Jewelry
-
Design Proposals
Matt and Jen reached out to me when they found themselves with a lovely mix of heirloom family stones that they wanted to turn into a few pieces to celebrate their wedding day.
-
Combining Classics...
We wanted to use as many stones as possible throughout their entire wedding collection, Jen's wedding band in particular was set with diamonds from a specific ring that belonged to her grandmother.
-
...With A Modern Twist
Matt knew he wanted to do something that was unique but was also a secret just for the two of them to enjoy. We set an heirloom diamond inside his band and filled the inside with blue resin for a really lovely pop of color.

It's Showtime
Jen's wedding earrings are a longer version of my spinner Cosmos designs and the feature pendant was to highlight the same movement and lightness of these delightful drops.
